Officials are investigating a workplace death in the air traffic control tower at the Greater Sudbury Airport.

Police say they received a call about an incident in the tower at around 11:30 yesterday morning. Airport sources tell CTV news that a maintenance worker fell down a flight of stairs and died.

The death was confirmed by a senior airport official, but no additional details were provided.

A coroner has been assigned to the fatality and an autopsy is being performed. The Ministry of Labour is also looking into the incident.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
