Highway 400 in Parry Sound reopens following fatal crash
One person is dead and another has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 400 south in Parry Sound, police say.
The highway has reopened after being closed for several hours, police said Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Thursday at Bowes Street and involved a passenger vehicle, the Ontario Provincial Police West Parry Sound detachment said.
The southbound lanes are closed between exits 229 and 217.

"All southbound traffic on Highway 69/400 north of Parry Sound is asked to exit at Parry Sound Drive or Hall's Quarry Road and continue through Parry Sound to Oastler Park Drive to continue southbound," OPP said in a social media post.
"Transports to detour Hwy. 124 to Hwy. 11 and all passenger vehicles can detour through town."
The northbound lanes remain open.
Ontario Provincial Police is investigating and has not released any details as to what happened to cause the crash.
There is no estimated reopening time available.
"The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team.
No word on whether it was a commercial or passenger vehicle that was involved.
