Some encouraging news from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Wednesday.

While 42 fires are still burning, there are none that are still considered out of control.

They are all either being held, under control, or being observed.

Fire rangers from all over Ontario are still fighting active fires in the northeast with help from crews from other provinces, the U.S. and Mexico.

After 14 days spent on the fire lines, crews are able to take a few days off before returning to the battle.

Parry Sound 33, an hour south of Sudbury is being held and hasn’t grown over the last week or so. It is currently reported to be 11,362 hectares in size.

Because of this, the travel restrictions for Parry Sound 33 have been modified.  The fire perimeter remains restricted, all waterway and road restrictions have been lifted as of Wednesday afternoon.

"Right now, we have by the end of day today, we have 190 plus fire rangers on Parry Sound fire 33. We had 40 Mexicans arrive today and they're getting pushed out to the fire line right now." said Pridham.

MNRF officials want people to know the regional fire ban is still in effect in the northeast region in addition to a number of municipal bans.
