Drug bust in North Bay the result of 2-month investigation
A 53-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking and other offences following a two-month investigation into the drug trade in North Bay.
Armed with a search warrant, police raised a Cassells Street residence April 16, seizing $15,000 in illegal drugs, as well as $1,175 in cash.
“During a two-month-long investigation, the street crime unit of the North Bay Police Service gathered intelligence in relation to a North Bay man who was dealing drugs from a residence on Cassells Street,” police said in a news release Thursday.
Police arrived around 5 p.m. and saw the man leave the residence in a vehicle.
“He was arrested a short time later and transported to police headquarters where he was searched and processed,” police said.
Items found at the Cassells Street residence included magic mushrooms, methamphetamine pills, Percocet, oxycodone, codeine, crystal meth, hydromorphone, cocaine and crack cocaine.
Charges include seven drug trafficking offences and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.
“The total street value of the drugs and cash seized during this investigation was approximately $16,900,” police said.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
