Daylong power interruption in Capreol on Sunday
The lights will go out in Capreol this weekend, as Hydro One completes equipment upgrades.
In a news release, Greater Sudbury Hydro said power would be out from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on May 5, affecting all residents and businesses in the community.
“This scheduled outage is required as Hydro One upgrades the energy system,” the release said.
“This will interrupt the energy supply to Greater Sudbury Hydro in Capreol. During this time, GSH will conduct maintenance on our Capreol substation.”
Before and during the outage, GSH said it’s important to ensure computers and related equipment are turned off prior to the interruption of services.
“Most cordless phones will not operate during a power interruption,” the release said.
“It is a good idea to keep cellphones fully charged. Garage door openers will not function during a power outage. Learn how to work the door manually, just in case.”
If you are a landlord, please notify your tenants, GSH added.
