The search for a missing northeastern Ontario man has come to a tragic end after his remains were identified.

Michael Kingston, 41, was reported missing April 9 when his family became concerned after not hearing from him for several days, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release last month.

The Emsdale man had been last seen at work.

After an extensive search by the canine unit and emergency response team was unsuccessful, human remains were found in a wooded area in the nearby town of Katrine on May 3.

Both communities are located along Highway 11 within about five kilometres of each other.

In an update Tuesday, OPP said the remains have been identified as Kingston.

"Foul play has been ruled out," police said.
