CTV Northern Ontario is expanding its local news programming this fall with the addition of an early-evening newscast, CTV News at Five.
The announcement is part of CTV’s fall schedule reveal; rolled out on Wednesday.
Featuring unique weekday broadcasts highlighting the biggest news from across Northern Ontario, CTV News at Five begins this fall.
It will lead into the region’s number one source for live, local, breaking news; CTV News at Six. The move further bolsters CTV News’ commitment to local news coverage.
“With the newly expanded CTV News at Five, CTV Northern Ontario is proud to make a significant investment in our local news coverage,” said Michelle Tonner, CTV Northern Ontario managing producer.
“At the end of the workday, CTV News at Five will keep viewers across the region up to date on the most significant local issues.”
CTV Northern Ontario joins the six CTV stations already delivering CTV News at Five (CTV Vancouver, CTV Calgary, CTV Red Deer, CTV Edmonton, CTV Lethbridge, and CTV Atlantic).
With Wednesday’s nationwide announcement, the following local stations will also add 5 p.m. newscasts to their lineups this fall:
CTV Saskatoon
CTV Regina
CTV Prince Albert
CTV Yorkton
CTV Winnipeg
CTV Kitchener
CTV Ottawa
CTV Montreal
Further details, including broadcast teams for CTV News at Five, will be announced in the coming months.
