A three-vehicle crash on Falconbridge Road in the Garson area Thursday afternoon sent four people to hospital including three paramedics, Sudbury police say.

The collision involving Air Bravo Medical Transfer Service, operating on behalf of Ornge ambulance, was reported just after 1:35 p.m. Feb. 15, Greater Sudbury Police Spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTV News in an email.

Three paramedics sustained minor injuries while the driver of one of the vehicles was seriously injured.

"It is believed that the driver who sustained serious injuries, suffered a medical emergency that led to the collision," Dunn said.

"The driver remains in hospital in critical condition."

Meanwhile, the driver of the third vehicle was not taken to hospital.

Sudbury police notified the public that Falconbridge Road was closed between Garson Coniston Road and Orell Street shortly after 5 p.m. The road reopened around the dinner hour.

"The investigation into the collision is ongoing," Dunn said.

"No charges have been laid."
