Hwy. 17 reopens after crash near Espanola

The Ministry of Transportation's 511 Traveller Information Service indicates that Highway 17 at at Jacklin Road in Baldwin Township reopened at about 5:45 p.m. following the a collision earlier in the day on Saturday.

Few details are available, but Ontario Provincial Police say a collision has closed Highway 17 between Espanola and Nairn Centre on Saturday afternoon.

“Lanes on Highway 17 are closed between Jacklin Road and Finn Road following a collision in Mckerrow,” said police in a social media post.

“OPP (are) on scene.”

The Ontario 511 Traveller Information Service reported the roadway closed at Jacklin Road in Baldwin Township just before 2 p.m.

“All lanes closed,” reads the service’s text report.

No word on what caused the crash, if there are any injuries, the number of vehicles involved or if any charges are pending.

There has been no estimate provided on when the highway will reopen and police have not listed any available detours.
