An obituary for long-time Sudbury reporter Carol Mulligan says she passed suddenly on August 11 at the age of 67.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sudbury's Cooperative Funeral Home.
The family says memorial donations can be made in Carol's honour at the Elgin Street Mission.
Long-time Sudbury reporter and New Democrat activist Carol Mulligan passed away on the weekend.
In a joint statement, several of her provincial NDP MPP colleagues expressed their condolences. Leader Andrea Horwath, along with France Gelinas and Jamie West said they are:
"…deeply saddened to learn today of the passing of Carol Mulligan. Carol was a talented journalist and a thoughtful storyteller committed to showing the human side of every issue. As a reporter and an activist, she worked tirelessly to keep her fellow citizens informed and to be a voice for those whose stories would otherwise not be heard. My thoughts are with Carol’s family and loved ones today, and with her community of Sudbury. We have all lost a powerful and compassionate voice.”
Leading into the 2018 provincial election, Mulligan sought the NDP nomination for Sudbury.
