Preparations are underway for intense competitions in Sudbury, Timmins and Wawa next week.

Participants in the annual District Mine Rescue Competitions will have many skills put to the test, including knowledge, firefighting skills, first aid response, use of emergency equipment and decision-making ability under stress.

Members of the public are welcome to watch.

Sudbury and Onaping districts will compete May 10th and 11th at I.J. Coady Memorial Arena in Levack.

Timmins and Kirkland Lake districts will compete May 9th through 11th at Archie Dillon Sportscomplex in Timmins.

Thunder Bay and Algoma districts will compete May 10th and 11th at Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre in Wawa.

Winners will move on to the provincial competition June 4th – 8th at Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson Mine in Matachewan.
