SUDBURY – The CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon is quickly approaching and on Saturday, volunteers from the Lions Club and 2912 Sudbury Irish Regiment Cadets unloaded a truck full of toys.
Telethon Chair Sam J. Khoury was among those in attendance. He says he is hopeful that everything will go well during the telethon with the help and support of the community.
Also in attendance was Officer Cadet Gabriel Oliveira representing the 2912 Sudbury Irish Regiment Cadets.
"Annually, we've been helping with the telethon with the gift relocation and organization… one of the main aspects of cadets is being a part of the community and helping out… time volunteering within the community," explained Oliveira. "We've had more turn out than we thought we'd have, so they're willing and wanting to be here."
As for the selection of toys, Khoury says there are "all different toys. We go down to Toronto to select them before… we go from infant to 13 years of age."
The 71st CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon will be airing on December 7 beginning from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on your CTV station, Bell TV, Eastlink, Shaw Direct and Vianet.
