Two ATV drivers travelling with a group were charged with impaired driving after a single ATV crash in the North Bay area Sunday.

The group was on Hemlock Road in Nipissing Township shortly before 2 a.m. July 21 when one of the ATVs crashed, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

Officers were called to the scene and laid charges against two operators, a 56-year-old Powassan man and a 62-year-old North Bay man.

The North Bay man is charged with having a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80 as well as not wearing a helmet or wearing it improperly.

No word if anyone was injured in the crash.

"The OPP remind motorists, should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122," police said.

Five people have died since April in ATV-related crashes in the northeast.

Last summer, 10 people died in the northeast in ATV crashes in a span of three months.
