"I was playing my ticket and when I uncovered $200,000, I went to the store right away to validate the ticket," Lahti told Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation staff at the Toronto prize centre when he went to pick up his winnings.

"I am usually pretty calm, but I was very happy. I wanted to ensure my ticket was really a big winner before I got too excited."

In a new release, he is quoted as saying he is very thankful and will use the money to pay off his bills while saving the rest.

The winning ticket was purchased at Parker's Your Independent Grocer on Laurentian Avenue in North Bay.
