One man is lucky to be alive after police officials in Sault Ste. Marie said his truck’s brakes failed to work.

The Sault Police Service said the driver of the truck has been transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers tell CTV the breaks on the truck stopped working and the driver ended up crashing into the side of home on St. Georges Avenue, near North Street; totaling two parked vehicles and landing on top of a shed.

“We know they were wearing their seatbelt,” said Sergeant Ray Magnan. “They were unbuckled by the paramedics and air bags were in place as well, so the combination of airbags being able to do its job and the proper seat belt being used, in my opinion, would be helpful in keeping in the injuries down the level they are at.”

No one was in the other two vehicles that were damaged.
