Body found behind dumpster off Frood Road in Sudbury, police investigating sudden death

Police and paramedics were called to Ghandi Lane and Frood Road on Wednesday afternoon after a body was found behind a dumpster and officials say a sudden death investigation is underway.

CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca video journalist Alana Everson arrived on scene around 3:20 p.m. Jan. 17.

Photos at the scene show an ambulance parked in the lane between two buildings – one business and another that appears to be a multi-unit residential building.

Several police cars parked along Frood Road, including the forensic unit as investigators processed the scene.

Everson said she was driving on Frood Road just after 3 p.m. when she saw two people waving down an ambulance near a dumpster on Ghandi Lane.

Police followed right behind the ambulance and set up the caution tape.

A source at the scene told CTV News a body was seen behind the dumpster.

Staff Sgt. Sherry Young told CTV News in a phone interview Greater Sudbury Police Service is investigating a sudden death at the scene, but said she could not give any further details.

No word on the cause of death.

The warmest temperature in Greater Sudbury on Wednesday was -10 C around 3 p.m., but felt like -17 C with the windchill with light snow most of the day, according to Environment Canada.

The low temperature was on Wednesday morning when it reached -21 C with the windchill.
