Youth charged in the Sault for firing cap gun at passersby

A 15-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged following an incident on Bay Street on Tuesday.

Police were called around 2:30 p.m. to respond to a report of a youth pointing and firing a cap gun at people walking down Bay Street.

“Upon arrival, officers located, identified and arrested the suspect, who they identified as the accused,” Sault police said in a news release Wednesday.

“The cap gun was located nearby.”

Charges include two counts each of mischief, using a fake firearm to commit an offence and weapons possession.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
