Youth, 13, charged with stabbing in the Sault

A 13-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon following a stabbing in the city.

Around 10 p.m. on July 1, a 911 caller reported a disturbance on Ferguson Avenue.

“Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from a stab wound,” Sault police said in a news release Friday.

“The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. An investigation revealed the accused and the victim, who are known to each other, were arguing when it escalated, and the accused stabbed the victim. The accused was arrested.”

The accused in the case was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 8.
