SUDBURY -- There were four passengers in a vehicle that crashed over the weekend, but police say only the driver was injured.

The crash took place at 11:20 p.m. on May 23 in Prince Township, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release.

"There were four passengers in the SUV at the time of the collision," the release said. "The driver, a 22-year-old female, suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital."

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie OPP initially responded to the collision, but it was later determined the collision took place in Prince Township, which is the jurisdiction of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The incident remains under investigation.
