SUDBURY -- The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a woman with murder after officers from the Manitoulin Detachment responded to a domestic disturbance west of Sudbury in the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township on Aug. 4.

Officers say they responded to the call just after 8:30 p.m. and located a victim who was then transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) where they were pronounced dead.

A 45-year-old woman from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has been charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with the death.

The investigation is still on-going and is being conducted by the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit under direction of the Criminal Investigations Branch.  The office of the Chief Coroner-Ontario Forensic Pathology Service along with the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) will also be assisting with the investigation.

The accused has been remanded into custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury at a later date.

Police say there is no concern for public safety.
