A woman accused of pulling a weapon on a store worker in Sudbury and demanding money and cigarettes has been arrested.

Sudbury police were called just before 9:50 a.m. Thursday to respond to a weapons complaint at the Lorne Street business.

“Information provided was that an individual had entered the store, approached the cash, displayed what was believed to be a firearm and demanded money and cigarettes,” police said in a news release.

“No one was physically injured during the interaction. The individual fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.”

Police found the 34-year-old suspect on Energy Court, but the cash and alleged firearm were missing.

She is charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and weapons possession. The suspect will appear in bail court Friday.

“We would like to commend the responding officers and dispatchers in our 911 emergency communications centre for the timely response and apprehension of this individual,” the release said.
