SUDBURY -- Greater Sudbury Police have charged a 38-year-old woman following a standoff outside a residence in Chelmsford.

She is facing two mischief charges, one for uttering a threat, weapons possession and breach of probation.

An additional charge of assaulting police was laid following an incident at police headquarters after she was arrested.

The standoff has ended, Greater Sudbury Police said Monday morning.

"A peaceful resolution has been achieved on Keith Avenue and the individual has been taken into custody by police," police said in a tweet..

"The roadway has been reopened. (Police) would like to thank the community for their patience."

Greater Sudbury Police tweeted early Monday morning that they are dealing with a serious situation in Chelmsford.

"Heavy police presence," police said around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

The affected area is Keith Avenue in the area of Pinellas Road.

"Barricaded person contained within a residence," police said. "Patrol and tactical officers on scene. Please avoid the area."
