Bill 23 to present some challenges for at least one northern city

The provincial government's latest piece of legislation, entitled 'More Homes, Built Faster,' could pose more headaches for the administrators in Greater Sudbury. Critics to the bill say it will leave municipalities short billions of dollars, the city's preliminary estimate anticipates it could cost taxpayers $7.5 million in the coming years.

Sudbury plays host to FIRST robotics competition

Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School played host to the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Qualifier with students competing from across Sudbury, North Bay, Manitoulin Island, Bruce County and Toronto. Teams had to use their robots to complete different challenges, using pylons while amassing points.

Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin acquitted on 1988 sexual assault charge

A Quebec civilian judge has acquitted Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin of sexual assault over an allegation that dates back to 1988. Judge Richard Meredith said he believes the complainant was sexually assaulted, but said the Crown did not establish beyond a reasonable doubt that it was Fortin who had assaulted her.
