Water main break on Old Skead Road leads to drinking water advisory

Share

Greater Sudbury is providing bottled water for residents in Old Skead Road area affected by a drinking water advisory.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts issued the advisory Tuesday morning for residents in the Old Skead Road area following a water main break.

"This affects residents on Skead Road north of Falcon Street, Old Skead Road, Gordon Street, Agnes Street, Patricia Street and Sunny Street," the city said in a news release.

"Crews are onsite and making repairs."

Affected residents can pick up bottled water from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the intersection of Old Skead Road at Agnes Street.

Water is also available at city water filling stations. Residents must bring their own containers.

"A drinking water advisory means that people who take their water from the municipal system should not use it for drinking," the health unit said.

"Boiling the water may not make it safe for drinking. For these purposes, water from an alternate source, such as bottled water, should be used."

The water can be used for laundry and bathing (excluding small children who could swallow the water).

Once Greater Sudbury has restored water pressure, residents should not use the water for human consumption until the advisory has been officially lifted.
