Water in Gogama safe to drink again, health unit lifts advisory
Public health officials say residents in the Town of Gogama can resume using municipal water for human consumption following a disruption in the supply.
A drinking water advisory was issued by Public Health Sudbury & Districts on Monday morning, saying boiling it still might not make it safe for drinking.
It was lifted Wednesday afternoon, the health unit said in a news release at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 11.

Gogama's water supply was re-established after a malfunction caused an interruption.
It has been determined safe again following tesing.
"The bacteriological quality of the water supply has been tested with no adverse results being reported," said Burgess Hawkins, a manager in the public health’s health protection division, in the update.
"Residents in the affected areas may notice chlorine odours and discoloured water."
Before using the drinking water, residents should do the following:
- Run cold water faucets and drinking fountains for 5 minutes or until the water runs clear
- Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle
- Drain and refill hot water heaters
- Large-volume users (for example, schools) may need to run cold water taps longer on first use
- To get rid of sediment, faucet screens should be removed, rinsed and put back in place
