Warning after candy given out from a car in the Sault was tampered with

Police in Sault Ste. Marie say a suspect in a vehicle gave out Halloween candy that appears to have been tampered with.
Police were alerted Nov. 1.
"The candy in question was a box of Smartie brand chocolates that appeared to have a hole in it and the box was wet," police said in a news release Saturday.
"It’s believed the candy was collected around John Street and Albert Street from someone who was handing out candy from their vehicle."
Fortunately, the candy was not eaten. No description of the person or the vehicle was provided and no charges have been laid.
However, police said the incident "is a reminder for parents and guardians to please check any items collected by children on Halloween to ensure it is safe to eat."
