Just hours after an appeal to the public, Sudbury police arrested a 'violent offender' accused of breaking into a Hanmer home, assaulting someone and fleeing with stolen items on Wednesday.

"We would like to commend the efforts of those involved in this investigation for quickly locating and arresting a violent offender," the update said.
Bertrand is charged with two counts of assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, overcoming resistance, theft, mischief and break, enter and commit.
"Shortly after 4:05 p.m. on Sept. 11, Bertrand is believed to have attended a residence on Theresa Avenue in Hanmer where he broke into the residence causing damage to the home," Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a news release Friday morning.
"Once inside, it is believed Bertrand threatened and assaulted an individual causing non-life-threatening injuries before stealing items from the residence and fleeing on foot."
Police said it was a targeted incident between people who know each other.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
