A victim who tried to intervene as two people stole items from a Sault business Tuesday was threatened with a machete.
Two suspects, ages 49 and 21, have been charged in the case, which took place around 2:15 p.m. at a business on Great Northern Road.
Sault police responded to a 911 call and located two people who matched the description of the suspects – and one had a machete with them.
"An investigation revealed the two accused were stealing items from outside a business when confronted by the victim," police said in a news release Wednesday.
"The first accused proceeded to threaten the victim with a machete. The first accused, along with the second accused, then left the business with a cart full of items valued at more than $3,900. The victim did not sustain physical injuries."

The 49-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon, weapons possession and theft under $5,000. The 21-year-old is charged with theft under $5,000.
Both accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.
