UPDATE:

Police in Sudbury now say a 37-year-old woman was the victim of the crash on Big Nickel Mine Road on Sunday night.

It happened at the corner of Big Nickel Mine Road and Elm Street.

Police say a car was speeding and left the roadway hitting a rock cut.

The victim's name has not been released.Greater Sudbury police say a green Buick four-door sedan was travelling very fast on Big Nickel Mine Road Sunday night when it left the road and hit a rock cut.

They say it happened around 11 pm and resulted in the death of the driver and lone occupant.

Police say the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed due to the serious injuries as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking the public’s help with information about the vehicle involved and for any witnesses to come forward.
