Update:

The James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police continues to investigate a motor vehicle crash into the OPP detachment on Third Avenue in the Town of Cochrane July 22.

"Having been a police officer for twenty five years I've never seen an event like this," said OPP Inspector Dan Foy

 The driver of the U-Haul moving truck was immediately arrested. This person was also transported via EMS to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

Two OPP officers were in the building at the time of the 6 pm incident.

 A member of the public, who was in the front lobby, suffered serious injuries and was sent to a local hospital with the Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services .

Officials and engineers were busy this morning trying to determine how to remove the truck from the building.

Police have charged a 45-year-old Ottawa Valley man from Mississippi Mills with the following :

 •            Operation While Prohibited contrary to section 320.18 of the Criminal Code (CC),

•             Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm contrary to section 320.13(2) CC, and

•             Operation Causing Bodily Harm contrary to section 320.14(2) CC.

 The man is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario, July 24, to answer to the charges.

An investigation is underway in the town of Cochrane following an incident at the local OPP detachment.

Police say a U-Haul moving truck crashed through the front of the OPP building in Cochrane around 6pm last night...

A police media officer says one person who was in the building at the time of the crash was injured and sent to hospital... while the driver of the truck has been arrested.

The detachment is closed to the public while the investigation continues.. Residents can still call in for service.
