SUDBURY – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say two teenage males from Sturgeon Falls have been arrested and charged after an alleged assault and robbery of another teen.

Police say they received a report of an alleged assault that happened on Nipissing Street in Sturgeon Falls last Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

They say an investigation allegedly revealed that a 15-year-old male made arrangements on social media to buy a Play Station 4 from another male he knew.

When the victim arrived at the agreed upon location, he was reportedly attacked by two males wearing disguises.  During the struggle, the victim was hit on the forehead with a weapon and the thieves stole his money and cell phone before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries following the incident.

Police say he was able to identify the suspects.

Subsequently, officers arrested two local teenage males, one 15-year-old and one 17-year-old, in connection to the incident.

They have both been charged with:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Disguise with intent
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering death threats

The identities of the accused are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and will not be released.

The two accused teenagers have been held in police custody and are scheduled to appear in bail court Tuesday in North Bay.
