SUDBURY -- Two new COVID-19 infections have been reported by separate health units in northeastern Ontario.

The Algoma Public Health Unit has announced its 44th case. Health officials are unsure how the individual contracted the virus, which is often a sign of community spread.

The individual is in self-isolation.

Meanwhile, Public Health Sudbury & Districts has confirmed a new case. This marks the health unit’s 127th case of COVID-19.

According to health officials, the individual from Greater Sudbury contracted the virus as a close contact of another confirmed case. The person in question is now in self-isolation.
