SUDBURY -- The Ontario Provincial Police are among the agencies investigating after two people were killed in a fire in Matheson on Friday evening.

The Ontario Fire Marshal is also at the scene along with a representative from the office of the chief coroner. There is no danger to the public.

Crews responded to the residential fire just after 5 p.m. on North Road in Matheson.

"While the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, police believe there is no risk to the public at this time," the OPP said in a news release. "Members of the community can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues."
