Two people, including a 23-year-old from Toronto, are charged with drug trafficking after a raid in Sudbury uncovered nearly half a kilogram of cocaine, police say.

Police searched a West End home on Ontario Street and found the drugs, along with $2,440 in cash, six cellphones and drug trafficking paraphernalia, Ontario Provincial Police said in a social media post.

"This investigation was conducted by the OPP-led provincial joint forces guns and gangs enforcement team (PGNG) and the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) drug enforcement team, with support from the OPP organized crime enforcement bureau, OPP tactics and rescue unit (TRU), OPP canine unit, OPP emergency response team (ERT), and GSPS intelligence unit," OPP said.

"PGNG is dedicated to disrupting criminal street gang activity through intelligence-led, multijurisdictional investigations into the trafficking of illicit drugs and illegal firearms."

Both suspects are also charged with breaching a release/probation order.
