Sudbury police received a call around 7:45 pm on Wednesday, April 10 regarding an assault that had just taken place in a high rise apartment building located in the Flour Mill area of Greater Sudbury.

Police say a 29-year-old woman had assaulted a 64-year-old man with a knife at 720 Bruce Street.

A neighbour, a 44-year-old woman, overheard the commotion and went to the unit where she was allegedly assaulted by the same woman.

The man sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, while the neighbor received minor injuries.

Due to the behaviour of the 29-year-old woman, she was apprehended under the Mental Health Act, brought to the hospital and transferred into the care of medical professionals.

Officers have requested an arrest warrant for assault with a weapon and assault.
