A North Bay woman and a southern Ontario man were arrested and $92,000 in illegal drugs, cash and a weapon were seized during a traffic stop last week, police say.

Members of the North Bay Police Service made the large drug bust after pulling over a vehicle as part of an ongoing investigation on Oct. 12, police said in a news release.

A 34-year-old woman from North Bay was arrested along with a 52-year-old man from Watertown, Ont. and charged with six drug trafficking offences, unauthorized possession of a weapon and possession of proceeds or property obtained by crime.

Police seized suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, hydromorphone pills, Percocet pills, along with an undisclosed amount of cash, drug trafficking equipment, a Ford Ranger pickup truck and a prohibited weapon – a folding knife “which could be opened using centrifugal force.”

“The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $92,000,” said police.

Both accused are being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
