Truck towing OPP cruiser collides with tractor-trailer on Hwy. 11 near Callander, driver charged
A northern Ontario tow truck driver has been charged with careless driving following a collision that closed Highway 11 near Callander on Friday morning.
The crash involved a tractor-trailer and a truck towing an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser.
North Bay OPP Const. Renee Taylor described the crash as “a slow-moving collision” in an email to CTV News.
Taylor said the tow truck driver received minor injuries and has been charged with careless driving.
“A tow truck that struck (a) tractor-trailer as they were just starting to move," she wrote.
"Unfortunately, our OPP cruiser was being towed and this resulted in damages to all vehicles involved.”
The crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m., according to a news release on Friday afternoon.

North Bay OPP and emergency medical services responded at the scene.
"It was determined that the tow truck struck the rear of the tractor-trailer," said police.
"The tow truck driver, a 32-year-old from Powassan, received minor injuries."

Police said all vehicles involved sustained "extensive" damage.
The roadway was closed for several hours Friday morning before fully reopening around 11 a.m.
