Trio from southern Ont., one young offender, charged with drug trafficking in northern Ont.

A routine traffic stop this week in northwestern Ontario uncovered $22,000 in illegal drugs. As a result, three people from southern Ontario and a 17-year-old are facing charges.
The arrests took place Sept. 11 when Ontario Provincial Police stopped a vehicle for a driving offence along Highway 11-17 near Lakeshore Drive, within the Municipality of Shuniah.
"Throughout the investigation, a search of the vehicle revealed suspected cocaine, fentanyl and other items related to drug trafficking," the OPP said in a news release Thursday.
"The total street value of the suspected cocaine & fentanyl that was seized is approximately $22,000."
The teen, two adults from London, ages 30 and 31, and a 29-year-old from Toronto have also been charged with drug trafficking.
The 30-year-old driver has also been charged with Highway Traffic Act offences, along with driving with cannabis readily available. The Toronto suspect was also charged with breach of recognizance.
The four accused were held in custody ahead of a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Thursday.
