SUDBURY -- Police in Timmins are hoping the public can help them identify the person behind a random act of violence in the community.
In a news release Monday, the Timmins Police Service the attack took place Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
"The (female) victim, just prior to entering a local grocery store, was approached from behind and punched in the face by a stranger," police said.
The victim was walking by the grocery store, heading towards the main entrance, when the suspect came up from behind her and pulled on her backpack, causing her to spin around.
"The suspect then punched the victim in the face, causing her to cut her bottom lip and to have a nose bleed," police said. "The victim indicates that she does not know the suspect."
The suspect is an Indigenous woman, between 30 and 40 years old, 5-foot-6 inches tall, with dark hair, wearing a camo coat and had tattoos on both of her hands and wrist area.
