Timmins Rock celebrate a championship season
The Timmins Rock was rolling in style Friday as the team celebrated its Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) Championship over the Soo Thunderbirds from April.
Riding off the high of the series win – the Rock took a ride on a parade float past dozens of fans at Hollinger Park.
The Rock is also returning from a 2-1 win against the Ottawa Junior Senators at the Centennial Cup in Manitoba – though it couldn’t secure the two-point lead to move forward in that tournament.

The team’s coach Brandon Perry called the festivities a community celebration of a job well-done.
“Certainly well-deserved by this group and what a turnout by the City of Timmins,” said Perry.
“We get incredible support all year long for our games and it’s no different tonight and our guys deserve it.”
The team’s captain Nicolas Pigeon said he feels they have the best fan base in the world.
“It’s pretty cool to see this, so many people cheering you up for a championship,” said Pigeon.
“We put so many – so much effort into winning this championship and I think it was just – it’s amazing. (There are) no words to describe it.”
The Rock will be losing eight graduating players as the season ends. The head coach and general manager says he’ll be working to build up a strong team for the upcoming season.
“Get back to work, start building. Let’s go back-to-back here,” said Perry.
