TIMMINS -- Timmins residents have come through and donated various personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks in support of local front-line workers.
A family physician in Timmins is spearheading the PPE drive.
Doctor Julie Samson, along with her husband who's also a physician, and several other local doctors, nurses and paramedics are hosting the drive until May 6 at the Cochrane emergency services ambulance bay.
"Timmins is not currently experiencing a PPE shortage at this time, but rather this is a proactive measure to prepare the community in the event of a PPE shortage," said Sampson.
Mary Scragg from Timmins says it only took her five minutes to buy some gloves from Caffeination and drop them off.
"This drop off is really important to help with giving the essential workers all the tools they need to help us," said Scragg.
Individuals and businesses are being asked to donate:
-N95 masks
-Surgical and procedure masks
-Face shields and visors
-Safety goggles with top and side covers
-Gloves (vinyl and nitrile)
-Tyvek coveralls
-Isolation gowns
-Hand sanitizer (minimum 70 per cent alcohol)
-Sanitizing wipes
-Microfiber clothes
Trained medical professions will collect items at the Cochrane EMS ambulance bay, located at 500 Algonquin Boulevard from May 3 -6.
