Police in Timmins are reminding snowmobilers that officers will be out patrolling trails over the coming week.
It's peak season for the sport across the northeast, but the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs has a problem, people riding with no permits.
"Officers do conduct snowmobile patrols on an intermittent basis throughout the winter. We did do a snowmobile patrol last week and found a common theme to be riders without trail permits. This is our opportunity to remind snowmobile drivers that to go on any of the OFSC trails, they do need a trail permit." said Kate Cantin of the Timmins Police Service.
Police say the fine for sledding without a permit can be as much as $1,000.
