Timmins police issue public advisory for male fugitive

SUDBURY -

Timmins police have issued a public advisory as officers search for a male fugitive in the area of Highway 665 north of Ross Avenue.  Officials say there is no threat to public safety at this time.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are also assisting with the search after the suspect fled a traffic stop on Highway 665 and are asking motorists to avoid picking up any hitchhikers in the area.  Police have not yet released the name of the fugitive.

"A male party fled from a traffic stop on Hwy 655 and, as such, is currently believed to be a person of interest in relation to this occurrence. All vehicular arteries remain open at present," said Timmins Police Service in an email to CTV.

"Sightings of any suspicious persons in the immediate area should be reported directly to the Timmins Police via 9-1-1 without delay."
