SUDBURY -- Timmins police have charged six men from the area with kidnapping and assault-related offences in connection with events at a local motel back in February.

Police say a group of five men forced their way into a hotel room to assault and kidnap a 21-year-old man in a drug-related dispute on February 13.

The victim was eventually released the same day and made his way to the hospital for treatment.

The men accused range in age from 20 to 40.

Five of the six have been arrested, while the sixth man, 40, remains at large.

The wanted 40-year-old is being charged with:

  • Two counts of aggravated assault
  • Kidnapping
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Use a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Utter threats
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Four of the accused have been released and are scheduled to be in court on May 26 to answer to charges against them.
