Timmins police have charged a local man with attempted murder stemming from an incident at a North End residence on February 12.

Police say 59-year-old Richard Forget was arrested and charged on April 4.

He's also facing other charges including sexual assault and forcible confinement.

“This investigation led to other allegations being brought forward stemming from events that occurred both in 2018 and one in 2017, hence the need for the additional charges that have been laid. This matter is now before the courts and the released person is bound by strict conditions and had a surety and has to comply with all conditions that have been imposed by the presiding justice of the peace." said Marc Depatie, of Timmins Police Service.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court again on April 16.

Police also encourage anyone who has information about the case to report it to police or Crime Stoppers.
