Police in Timmins have charged a 22-year old man with attempted murder.

It's in connection with an incident on Sunday. Police answered a call about a person in distress at a local business.

“It's not terribly common to lay the charge of attempted murder."  said Marc Depatie of the Timmins Police Service. "Obviously, the evidence has to sustain it, so thankfully it's not something that happens on a regular basis. But nonetheless, where the evidence can sustain such a charge, we lay that charge, again, in consultation with guidance given to us by the crown attorney's office." he added.

The accused man appeared in bail court in Timmins Monday.
