The show is one of the city’s longest-running two-day showcases that attracts around 10,000 people over the weekend.
One of the highlights is the Birds of Prey demonstration and the more than 70 vendors that set up shop throughout the entire McIntyre Community Centre.
The Schumacher Lions Club organizes the event which is also the club’s biggest fundraiser.
“Where the money goes?” said John McCauley, the show’s chairman and local Lions Club member.
“It goes to help people that may need glasses, eyeglasses. We help people that need dentures. We've had people that go to have to go to Toronto or Ottawa to see a doctor. They can't really afford to go. I know the government helps, but that takes sometimes six to eight weeks to get the money. So we put the money upfront for them.”
McCauley said the group also donates to the Timmins and District Hospital, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine – and even local hockey teams.
