Third suspect wanted in relation to a Sudbury armed robbery, two in custody
The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) is searching for a third person wanted in connection to an armed robbery at a Bruce Avenue home in September.
On Friday afternoon, police identified 39-year-old Andre Martel was identified as the third suspect in an incident that happened just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 16.

“There is no known immediate threat to public safety,” said police.
“This was a targeted attack as the individuals are known to each other.”

TWO OTHERS ARRESTED
Two other men from Sudbury, a 29-year-old and a 42-year-old, have already been arrested in connection with the robbery.
All of the accused face charges of robbery with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The 29-year-old was arrested without incident just after 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 21 on Larch Street.
“Shortly after the arrest, a search warrant was conducted at a residence on Melvin Avenue,” said police.
“In total, officers seized over 50 grams of fentanyl, over 23 grams of cocaine, a loaded handgun, two prohibited devices and over $400 in cash.”
Police said the estimated street value of the seized drugs is more than $16,000.
As a result, the 29-year-old is facing 11 additional charges including two additional charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of drug trafficking, careless storage of a firearm and failing to comply with a probation orders.
Earlier, on Nov. 28, the 42-year-old was arrested by GSPS’ Break Enter and Robbery Unit.
He faces one additional drug possession charge following his arrest.
The pair are being held in custody following bail hearings and will appear in court at later dates.
THE INCIDENT
Police received a call for service in the Flour Mill area in relation to a weapons complaint on Sept. 16 shortly before 1 a.m., GSPS said in a news release.
“Information provided was that three men, one of which was armed with a handgun, were observed entering a residence on Bruce Avenue in Greater Sudbury in what was believed to be a home invasion,” said police.
“The men subsequently left the residence a few minutes later, with stolen items from the residence in hand, prior to police arrival.”
No one was injured in the robbery, said police.
The charges have not been proven in court.
