SAULT STE. MARIE -- The North Shore Health Network has reopened the Thessalon Hospital emergency department Wednesday, after temporarily closing over the weekend.

The hospital was shut down late Friday night as a precautionary measure when healthcare workers were tested for COVID-19 after experiencing similar symptoms.

According to a media release, all the tests have returned as negative.

While the emergency department is reopening, all in-patient beds at the site will remain empty. Those services will continue to be redirected to the Blind River site until further notice.
