SUDBURY -- A northbound ATV driver near Temiskaming Shores on Dec. 12 got stuck in railway tracks as a northbound train was barrelling down the tracks.

Ontario Provincial Police said the incident took place around midnight south of Cemetery Road, in the Township of Coleman.

"The train crew was not able to stop the train immediately and the ATV and train collided," police said in a news release. "The ATV driver jumped off and fled the scene."

The ATV was destroyed, and the OPP searched the area for the driver, but were unable to locate the individual or find out whether the operator was injured.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the person driving the ATV.
